Community Updates
New: Cass Family Clinic Pharmacy Now Open
Cass Family Clinic in Dowagiac has opened up the pharmacy location, expanding the access to prescriptions and care they need close to home. You can transfer your prescription in minutes.
New: Berrien County Rx Kids Program
Rx Kids is expanding to provide direct cash assistance to support moms and babies during the first year of life. This program aims to improve health outcomes and provide a strong start for local families.
New: Adulting 101 Class
MSU Extension’s Adulting 101 is back and it is here to help you build real life skills with confidence. These free Zoom classes cover money management, mental health, insurance, meal planning, stress, and professionalism, and they are open to people of all ages. You only need to register once for the year to access every session, so sign up and invest in yourself.

Berrien Cass Van Buren
Monthly mobile food distributions at locations across all three counties including Benton Harbor, Cassopolis, Coloma, Hartford, and Lawton. Check the schedule for the date and site nearest you.
Free mobile food distributions throughout Calhoun County including Battle Creek, Marshall, and surrounding communities. Dates and locations updated monthly.
Free drive-through food pantry held monthly at the Michigan Works! Benton Harbor Service Center (499 W Main St). Open to everyone — no boxes or bags needed, stay in your vehicle.
Berrien Cass Van Buren
Fixed-location food pantries you can visit at set times throughout the week. Locations include Berrien Springs and Buchanan (Berrien County), Dowagiac and Cassopolis (Cass County), and Decatur, Hartford, and Paw Paw (Van Buren County). SMCAA also runs a monthly senior food commodity program and a quarterly emergency food program — visit their site to find the location closest to you.
Daily sack lunches served Monday through Friday, 11:30 AM – 12:45 PM at 174 W Main Street in Benton Harbor (Berrien County). No registration or ID required — open to anyone who needs a meal.
Hot community meals served at dining sites and home-delivered Meals on Wheels for residents who have difficulty leaving home. Serves all of Cass County including Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg, and Marcellus. Free or suggested donation for those who qualify — call (269) 445-8110 for details.
Berrien Van Buren
Home-delivered meals for seniors and adults with disabilities in Berrien and Van Buren counties who have difficulty preparing their own food. Supports independent living — contact them to learn about eligibility and how to sign up.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department’s mobile health clinic “Calhoun Wellness Wagon” is dedicated to improving the health of our community by increasing access to care for those in medically underserved areas and providing preventative care where it is needed.

A mobile medical clinic that travels to different locations in Berrien and Cass counties, providing healthcare closer to home. Also operates a pharmacy location in Dowagiac (Cass County) where you can transfer your prescriptions. Check their site for upcoming clinic stops.
Berrien Cass Van Buren Calhoun
Their free DME Closet lends or gives away clean durable medical equipment — wheelchairs, walkers, shower chairs, and more — to anyone in the community who needs it. Also connects residents to the MI Choice Waiver program, which helps people receive in-home care so they can continue living independently.

Free services for people with any type of disability — peer support groups, help understanding your rights under the ADA, advocacy, and free online seminars. Their virtual Disability+ Connect peer group meets every Tuesday 2–3 PM via Zoom and is open to anyone in all four counties.

Free helpline for older adults and people with disabilities in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties. Trained specialists help you find in-home services, transportation, Medicaid programs, and local support — all at no cost. Available by phone anytime during business hours.

Free services for job seekers including resume help, interview prep, GED support, career workshops, and hiring events. Also offers a free professional clothing closet at their Benton Harbor location for anyone preparing for a job interview. Check their events calendar for upcoming workshops and adult education office hours at local libraries.
A county-maintained list of organizations in Berrien County offering free or low-cost furniture, clothing, and household items. Includes Mosaic Resale in Benton Harbor, Neighbor to Neighbor in Berrien Springs, Helping Hands Ministry in Niles (children’s clothing), and Habitat ReStore in Benton Harbor for furniture and building materials.
