A presentation will be given by both the U.S. and Michigan Chambers of Commerce. Attendees will hear from Ryan Gleason\, Senior Manager of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber’s Great Lakes Regional Office and Mike Alaimo\, Senior Director of Legislative and External Affairs at the Michigan Chamber. \nGleason will present a federal update from the U.S. Chamber focusing on what has happened on Capitol Hill in Washington DC this year\, the Chamber’s priorities\, trade policy related to Michigan\, and a political update going into the 2026 midterm elections. Alaimo will speak on the budget\, which will have a focus on the decoupling tax structure and road funding. He will also share an update from the first half of the year for major issues in divided government\, including ESTA and minimum wage\, road funding rhetoric\, permitting reform\, carbon capture and energy re-write. \nSpecial thanks to the event sponsors Oaklawn Hospital\, KCCU. The ceremony\, Saturday\, November 29 at 6pm on the south lawn of the historic Honolulu House\, will continue the holiday tradition in the heart of downtown Marshall. The event coincides with Shop Small Saturday\, a day designated to shop and eat locally and support Marshall’s small retail and hospitality businesses. \nThis year\, the Chamber Christmas Tree has “grown” by four feet\, making it a spectacular 30-foot LED panel tree topped with a brilliant four-foot star. This dazzling display is part of the festive holiday decorations that light up downtown Marshall throughout the holiday season. \nThe Tree Lighting Ceremony promises a joyful gathering\, symbolizing community spirit and unity as the town gathers to see the bigger\, brighter tree illuminated. \n“We are so excited to see this new tradition take root and literally grow in its second year\,” said Patty Williams\, Business Development Manager for Choose Marshall. “This event is an opportunity for our community to come together\, celebrate the season\, and create lasting memories. The larger tree is a testament to the strong support we received last year\, and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone again!” \nThe festive evening will feature a special performance by the Marshall Choral Society\, who will also lead the crowd in a Christmas carol sing-along\, and complimentary treats of free hot cocoa\, generously donated by Kellogg Community Credit Union. DESCRIPTION:The event features guided tours to five historic homes decorated for Christmas. The walks will start promptly at the scheduled tour times. \nTour times are: Saturday 4:30pm & 6:45pm and Sunday 4:30pm & 6:45pm. \nEach tour begins with a reception at the Presbyterian Church at 200 W Mansion St\, Marshall\, MI 49068. Participants should arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled tour times to enjoy the reception and be ready to depart at their scheduled times. Tickets are $35 and are nonrefundable. This is a walking tour\, and participants should wear comfortable boots or shoes and be prepared for winter weather (this tour is not cancelled due to weather). Each tour group will have approximately 30 persons and make an escorted circuit of the five Candlelight Walk homes.
